Melanie Chen
Melanie completed her training in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at PCU College in Canada. She is a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) and a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P), licensed under CCHPBC.
Melanie specializes in treating musculoskeletal conditions, including neck and shoulder pain, restricted head rotation, sciatica, lower back pain, knee and ankle pain, arm and hand numbness, and TMJ disorders. She also addresses vision issues (blurry vision, eye pressure relief), migraines, chronic pain (from accidents), internal disorders, stress and anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, and brain fog. In addition, she provides treatment for urgent conditions such as stroke sequelae and facial paralysis, as well as cosmetic acupuncture for skin rejuvenation, acne, aging, dark circles, and facial puffiness.
Melanie incorporates multiple TCM techniques in her practice, including acupuncture, Gua Sha, cupping, scalp acupuncture, and Chinese Tuina (traditional therapeutic massage). She also utilizes fascia and muscle adjustments to improve symptoms and restore balance in the body.
Before studying TCM in Canada, Melanie had already received extensive training in classical Chinese medicine. She specializes in Jing Fang (經方), a traditional herbal approach that focuses on formula-based treatment, and Japanese Kampo (漢方), which integrates Chinese and Japanese medical traditions. Her expertise in these fields allows her to diagnose and treat conditions holistically, addressing the root cause rather than just the symptoms.
Her diagnostic approach emphasizes palpation-based diagnosis, particularly abdominal diagnosis (腹診) and limb-based reflex analysis, which provide instant feedback for both the practitioner and the patient. This technique enables her to assess the body’s internal imbalances and create personalized treatment plans.
Melanie strongly believes that diet and lifestyle are fundamental to long-term well-being. She provides tailored lifestyle and dietary recommendations to support her patients’ overall health.
She has also received advanced training in cosmetic acupuncture in Taiwan, specializing in skin rejuvenation, acne treatment, anti-aging techniques, and facial contouring to promote natural beauty and skin health.
